Summary of project:
Food scarcity and the ongoing loss of agricultural land are issues of global concern. The Egyptian government has adopted policies aimed at self-sufficiency in food production. The main goal is to overcome Egypt's significantly unfavorable population to agricultural land ratio.
Land assessment classification helps determine the suitability of soil for most types of field crops while land suitability refers to the ability of a portion of land to sustain crop production in a sustainable manner. This type of analysis allows the identification of the main determinants of agricultural production and enables decision makers to develop crop management capable of increasing land productivity. The study aims to evaluate land use changes in the study area and evaluate and map crop suitability.
The objective of the project:
Identifying suitable areas for agricultural exploitation in the study area, which can be expanded in reclamation to increase productive areas and work to rationalize and develop the use of limited land resources in light of the scarcity of water for this hoped-for expansion.
