The National Authority for Remote Sensing is signing a cooperation protocol with the Egyptian petrochemical company.

On the margins of the EGYPES 2024 exhibition, held from 19 to 21 February 2024, under the auspices of President of the Republic Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, it serves as a platform for exploring the latest trends in industry, promoting regional progress and focusing on the theme of "leading energy transformation, security and decarbonization," where industry leaders, experts and stakeholders from all over the world meet together to shape a sustainable future of the energy landscape, from the discussion of state-of-the-art techniques to strategic partnerships.
In this context, under the auspices of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Science signed a protocol of cooperation with Egyptian petrochemicals.
The cooperation protocol was signed by Dr. Islam Abu Al-Magd, Chairman of the National Remote Sensing and Space Science Authority, and Mr. Ahmed Kamel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Egyptian petrochemicals.
The purpose of the cooperation protocol is to guide the expertise and potential of the National Remote Sensing Authority and the Egyptian petrochemical company; to meet the requirements and priorities of the plans of the two sides in all scientific fields, as well as to develop a strategy for the development of the company during the next phase and to benefit from the research and technical aspect of the national remote sensing and space science agency.
The areas of cooperation between the two sides include surface and subsurface geotechnical studies, cadastral upgrades of the land, real estate and buildings owned by the company, the identification of their coordinates and their connection with the coordinates of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the detection of lines and routes of oil and gas pipelines and the ethylene line using modern remote sensing techniques, the identification of depths and the extent of violations along the lines, as well as the detection of medium and high power cable tracks and their electrical flow, the identification of places of saturation with petroleum materials and potential sources of leakage, environmental risk management, environmental impact assessment studies, technical and technical capacity-building, scientific seminars and joint workshops to increase environmental awareness.
It should be noted that the signing of the Cooperation Protocol underscores the importance of cooperation and coordination in the implementation of research and environmental projects, studies and technical applications. In particular, the Egyptian petrochemicals company wishes to use the modern technology available to the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences in the implementation of national research and applied projects aimed at the optimal and sustainable use of petroleum wealth and the monitoring and management of environmental and natural hazards around it, through its work as a scientific consultant for the company, the implementation of research studies and projects, environmental consultations and training, using the latest scientific and research technologies and their applications.
The signing of the protocol was attended by Dr. Sameh Bakr Al-Kafrawi, Professor and Head of the Authority ' s Department of Marine Science, and engineer Majid Al-Fahm, Director General of Fire Control, Egyptian Petrochemical Company.
