The National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences receives a delegation from the Chinese Embassy to promote cooperation in the field of information technology

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stressed the importance of strengthening scientific and research cooperation with international bodies and agencies and of focusing on areas related to modern technology in order to keep pace with new and accelerating technological developments in various countries of the world, in line with the objectives of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research.

In this context, Dr. Islam Abu Al-Magd, Chairman of the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, received a delegation from the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, headed by Mr. Chang Hua Cheng, Scientific Adviser for Science and Technology Education at the Embassy, to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation between the two sides in the fields of information technology and satellite data, in order to achieve the objectives of sustainable development and to provide information and services that contribute to the advancement of scientific research for the benefit of society.

Dr. Islam Abu Al-Magd stressed the Commission's concern to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese side, noting that such cooperation was part of the Commission's endeavour to develop its capabilities and to benefit from China's advanced experience in the field of information technology and satellite data, noting that the meeting was part of the framework of Egypt's fruitful Chinese cooperation, particularly in the context of the "Hariri Road" initiative, which aims to enhance communication and cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

The meeting discussed the possibility of receiving the Authority's Aswan reception station for China's satellite group. This cooperation is aimed at serving the information infrastructure in North Africa and promoting cultural cooperation between Egypt and China in providing services to beneficiaries from North African countries. This is one of the programmes in which cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research will take place and a final agreement is expected to be reached soon.

Such cooperation was an important step towards strengthening cooperation between Egypt and China in the area of information technology and satellite data, and it was expected that it would yield positive results that would benefit both countries, particularly in the areas of sustainable development, scientific research and the provision of services to society.

This meeting also confirms Egypt's and China's desire to strengthen their bilateral relations and expand areas of joint cooperation, particularly in the field of information technology and satellite data.
