Dr. Islam Abu
Al-Magd, President of the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space
Sciences, participated in the workshop organized by Kafr El-Sheikh University,
headed by Dr. Abd Al-Razek Desouki, President of Kafr El-Sheikh University, in
the presence of Major General Dr. Alaa Abd Al-Muti, Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh.
The workshop
was held under the title: "Time changes in land cover in and around Lake
Perlus using machine learning and deep learning", in the university
conference hall, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Al, Vice President of the
university for education and student affairs, Dr. Ismail Al-Qan, Vice President
of the university for postgraduate studies and research, Dr. Amani Shaker, Vice
President of the university for community service and environmental development
affairs, Dr. Ali Sabri, Secretary General of the university, a group of deans
of faculties, university faculty members, and representatives of the project's
research team committee.
Dr. Islam Abu
Al-Magd stressed the importance of cooperation between universities,
institutions and research bodies and enhancing cooperation in various fields of
common interest between both sides.
During the
meeting, Dr. Abdel Razek Desouki presented a simple explanation about the
university and the noticeable development it witnessed in various educational
and research sectors, noting the importance of close cooperation between the
university and the governorate, stressing the importance of strengthening joint
means of cooperation to serve the community, noting that the capabilities of
the university, its scientists and researchers in the service of the people of
Kafr Al-Sheikh Governorate through providing scientific and practical solutions
and consultations, and developing proposals for upgrading, supporting and
developing the province, adding that the National Authority for Remote Sensing
and Space Sciences is part of the Ministry of Research The university has the
privilege of cooperating with them in many fields.
On his part,
Major General Dr Alaa Abd Al-Muti, Governor of Kafr al-Sheikh, expressed his
pleasure at this meeting, praised the importance of the University's role in
research, education and community service, and wished the University and its
leadership every success in achieving advanced positions at the local, regional
and international levels.
It should be
noted that the workshop addressed the use of state-of-the-art methods in remote
sensing, space science, geographic information systems, artificial intelligence
and cadastal work to monitor land cover changes and changes within the
boundaries of Lake Perlus from 1980 to 2024, with the participation of Dr.
Safaa Mohamed Hassan, Chief of the GIS Section and Chief of the Scientific
Training and Continuous Studies Division, Dr. Ashraf Hilmi, Chief of the Data
Receiving and Analysis Division, and Dr. Sayed Abdo, Director of the Data
Receiving Station of the National Remote Sensing Authority Dr. Ahmed Qutb,
Programmer at the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences,
Ahmed Said Ajlan, Director of the Centre for Geospatial Information Systems in
the governorate, Dr. Saifeddin Mohamed Abu Khashba, Assistant Professor,
Department of Geology, Faculty of Sciences, Kafr Sheikh University, and Dr.
Wael Mustafa Mahmoud, Professor, Department of Geography and Geographic
Information Systems, Kafr Sheikh University Faculty of Arts.
On the
sidelines of the meeting, the Head of the University, the Governor and the Head
of the Authority made an inspection tour to visit the facilities of the
University and the Medical City; To follow the tremendous developments that the
university has witnessed in a short period of time.
