Dr. Islam Abu Al-Magd, President of
the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, and Dr. Mansour
Hassan, President of Beni Suef National University, signed a joint cooperation
protocol between the two sides in the fields of applying research, studies and
projects and exchange information and experiences in the field of remote
sensing science and space technology.
Dr. Islam Abu Al-Magd stressed the
National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences' endeavor to build
human capacities, spread knowledge, and enhance scientific cooperation with
Egyptian universities in order to qualify graduates to be able to meet the
needs and requirements of the local, regional, and international labor market,
in implementation of the directives of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher
Education and Scientific Research, on the importance of cooperation and
integration between educational and research institutions in a way that
benefits the development of the educational and research system in Egypt.
The Chairman of the Authority
pointed out the Authority’s interest in establishing partnerships with various
institutions and bodies, and benefiting from the capabilities available to the
Authority to implement projects and research that have an economic and social
return that contributes to supporting the efforts of the Egyptian state to
advance the national economy and society and build the Egyptian person,
expressing his happiness to cooperate with Beni Suef National University in
many areas of common interest between the two parties.
Dr. Islam Abu Al-Magd explained that
the protocol aims to enhance cooperation between the Authority and the
University in the field of student training, remote sensing, space science and
technology, and data analysis, in addition to cooperation in joint scientific
research and the exchange of scientific cadres, especially for the programs of
the College of Navigation Sciences and Space Technology, the College of
Engineering, the College of Computers, and the programs of geography surveying.
For his part, Dr. Mansour Hassan
stressed that the protocol also aims to integrate efforts and scientific
cooperation to enrich the educational process at the university, and to benefit
from the scientific and material capabilities of both parties, including
laboratories, research centers, production workshops, and qualified cadres, in
addition to holding conferences, workshops, seminars, and joint training
programs to spread knowledge of remote sensing sciences and space technology.
The President of Beni Suef National
University pointed out the university’s interest in benefiting from the
Authority’s capabilities to cooperate in many areas of common interest between
the two sides, noting the need to achieve the best possible benefit from the
cooperation protocol, in a way that benefits students and faculty members and
contributes to the development of the educational and research process at the
university.
For his part, Dr. Osama Shalbya, Dean of the Faculty of Navigation Sciences
and Space Technology, stressed the importance of the role played by the
National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, and its major role in
transforming the outputs of scientific research into applications that benefit
society, noting that the mechanisms of cooperation also include studying the
technical and economic feasibility of the project, preparing the time plan,
planning, financing, implementation and follow-up according to the nature of
each project.
At the end of the meeting, Dr.
Mansour Hassan and Dr. Islam Abu Al-Magd exchanged commemorative shields in
appreciation of the efforts made to achieve benefit for both sides.
The signing of the cooperation
protocol was attended by Dr. Ashraf Khaled Helmy, Head of the Data Analysis
Division at the Authority, Dr. Safaa Hassan, Head of the Training Division at
the Authority, and Dr. Bassam Abdel Latif, Director of the Technical Office at
the Authority. The university was represented by Dr. Osama Shalbya, Dean of the
Faculty of Navigation Sciences and Space Technology, Dr. Khaled Youssef, Vice
Dean of the Faculty for Graduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Mohamed Murad
Abdel Rahman, Academic Director of the Applied Sciences Program for Space and
Navigation at Beni Suef National University.
