In this context, the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences participated; In the celebration of World Environment Day, supervised by the United Nations Environment Programme, under the title “Confronting Plastic Waste”, Dr. Islam Abu Al-Majd, Chairman of the Commission, in a symposium on “Climate Changes between Monitoring and Confrontation and Adaptation Policies,” and Dr. Abu Al-Majd, the Authority’s vision of using remote sensing techniques and space applications in monitoring methods for air pollutants and greenhouse gases that cause global warming, and how remote sensing and satellites monitor the effects of climate change on the agricultural and food sector, the coastal environment, the infrastructure and economics on the coast, heritage sites, antiquities, and water.

As explained by Dr. Abu Al-Majd explained how to monitor plastic waste in fresh water in rivers and lakes and in salt water in seas and oceans using remote sensing and satellite technologies, which have proven effective in monitoring and monitoring the causes of climate change, and supporting policies on how to confront and how to adapt.
